I have told you all this so that you may have peace in me. Here on earth, you will havemany trials and sorrows. But take heart, because I have ovecome the world. John 16:33

a day with the animals

Sunday, Chris was playing the final round of the Nationwide Tour event in Omaha. Jay had mentioned going up to watch him play and I decided it would be a great time to finally take the boys to the Omaha Zoo. We woke up before the crack of dawn to start our day. Halfway to Omaha, I honestly thought I might have lost my mind, did I really think this was a good idea? At St. Joseph, MO we stopped for a gas fill up and a convenience store breakfast. Both boys stayed awake for the rest of the drive to Omaha, and let’s just say that I am now a total proponent for the car dvd players. We have one but we reserve it for long drives. Maybe not so much any more.

We make it to Omaha, drop Jay off and head to the zoo. (Of course, we are an hour behind schedule.) Totally ironic that there is a family from our church that is in line at the same time we were. Even though it was a very long morning we had a blast! We saw orangutans, monkeys, snow bear, black bear, polar bears, cheetahs, gorillas, penguins, elephants, rhinos, seals. We rode the sky tram and I admit I’m totally proud of myself that I did it. It’s like a ski lift and I have issues with ski lifts. I was nervous about getting on and off the lift, with managing my bags and a little guy but all was well. We saw almost everything we wanted to see but have built our list for next time.

Let me tell you, come Monday morning, I was exhausted. My whole entire body was tired and felt swollen from the lack of sleep and of course the healthy food that I ate all weekend. Yet while I felts so bad, I also felt good. Even though it wasn't easy, we did it. Most importantly we created a memory...

Of course some pics of our day…

This picture was taken as we were leaving the zoo. We were all pooped.

Baseball 2009

Baseball 2009 came to an end Thursday, when Mac's team suffered their 2nd loss in the leagues tournament. The team overall was 20-1 in the regular season, which is an amazing feat. Mac played pitcher, catcher and on occassion short stop. My favorite was when he played pitcher. Man..he's pretty good...of course that's not a biasd opinion. Here are some pics...

Saturday Recap

Saturday was a full full day. Jay played in a golf tournament so it was just me and the little people. We started the day with Charlie's last tball session.

Then we headed to mini golf.

Tried multiple attempts to get brother shot.

After mini golf, we headed out on another adventure. This winter Mac had a basketball tournament at St Mary's in Independence. We stumbled upon this litle gem and I knew I would be heading back with the boys one day. Saturday was the day. I wish I would have taken pics of our treats but truth be told I felt a little weird whipping out my dslr. :)

Blogging Thing....

I don't know about this blog thing. I just seem to go in spurts where I will post pretty regularly for a couple weeks and then nada, nothing for who knows how long. I hate to admit it but I am a blog addict. I love blogs. I love photography blogs. I love home decor blogs, I love life blogs. The best ones are those that kind of mix it all together. Oh I forgot I like cooking blogs and running blogs...see what I mean? I'm finding I can spend hours reading and searching blogs and you know what...that is just not right. Sooo I am trying to figure out how to control my addiction. At the same time, I love this space where i can document my life. I have fallen way behind in scrapbooking, not that i was ever caught up but you know. What a great resource to be able to have for our family one day. I love putting pictures on the blog, but to be honest, it's kind of a lengthy process. Downloading to my computer, picking the ones i want, doing editing (which is pretty elementary at this point), then loading them. Man it takes a while. I'm sure I'm doing everything rather rudimentary, I just need to figure out how to speed it up. So hang in there..I'll figure this thing out.
