weekend rewind

weekend was comprised of basketball, basketball, basektball and yes you guessed it more basketball.  mac had 4 tournament games and 1 league game.  his team won the tournament.  i love watching him play.  i love seeing his determination, his love of the game.  i love watching him clap/cheer/encourage his teammates and i love when he gives even himself a little clap.

edit:  i was just told that i don't have enough pictures of mac playing basektball, which is true.  i honestly don't really get to sit and watch mac play and second my indoor basketball shots really need some work.  however, here are a few not from this weekend but still some shots.

we've seen the sun 3 days in a row.  i think that's a record for this winter.

cara and i ran outside friday.  i just can't believe how different running outside is versus on the treadmill.  our long run this week was 9 miles and running outside was brutal.  i mean at one point i thought to myself, i'm going to quit.  is there anybody we can call to come pick us up?  we made it back to our cars though and luckily i wasn't too sore on saturday.

Mixed Emotions

Charlie was telling a joke (that made no sense) and after my little chuckle he said "Thank you, thank you very much"  where do they learn this stuff.

Charlie and his sleeping buddies

when i showed up to mac's valentine's day party i got the nod.  you know recognition that he saw i was there but he sure as heck didn't get too excited about it.  my baby is growing up...

happenings and thoughts

valentines came and went.  i got a nice bracelet from the boys and lovely cards.

we have had a couple of sick days this week.  charlie got pink eye saturday in the left eye which is now in the right eye.  so far i and everyone else has managed to avoid it.  yesterday afternoon we built an obstacle course.  i'm intirigued at the complexity of the games that charlie comes up with.  the rules are always complicated and there are usually too many to keep track of.

today is the first day of lent.  i have given up blog reading.  i love reading all the ideas that are out there in blog land, everything from home decor to running to diet.  but to be honest it often overwhelms me and makes me feel like a failure...wishing i was a better photographer, wishing that i had more skill in decorating, wishing i was better committed to eating right, wishing i was passionate about my relationship with Christ as i am my diet pepsi (inside joke)...you know the list goes on.  after a while of wishing i start to think what am i good at.  so for 40 days i will not read blogs.  i will update mine...this is kind of like my journal and heck no one reads it but i will not be reading blogs.

i made a sock monkey.  i think he might be so ugly he's cute.  i originally started to make him for a friend of mine who recently had a baby.  i'm kind of worried it might be choking hazard and charlie asked for him so i'm letting him keep it.  he hasn't been named yet, but gosh darn i really like him.

What I learned today

it's not good to run after drinking pop and eating dark chocolate resse's peanut butter cups

dark chocolate is good for you, so i kind of made a healthy choice

running outside feels so different than running on the dreadmill

i should be confident of who i am, who cares what anyone thinks of me

I got Nothing...

I got nothing..nada, zilch zero.

I'm honestly a mess but working through it.

Looking forward to Friday.  A day off and heading to good juju in downtown KC with my camera and a starbucks latte.  Can't wait

Still sore from my yoga class on Sunday.  Is that right?  I must not have done yoga right before Sunday or else that instructor kicked my bootie.

Jayhawks beat KState Saturday in Manhattan .  Love that.

Running schedule is as follows:
Rock the Parkway 10K 3/20
Westport Run 3/14
