So Father's Day has come and gone...(yes I know a little late on this post). Jay choose to go to Powell Gardens on Saturday (Sunday Mac had a baseball game in the middle of the afternoon) Here are some pics from the day.

rut

So I've been in a rut lately. I hate when I am in a rut. I know without a shadow of a doubt the blessings I have, yet when I'm in my ruts, I feel like it's discounting my appreciation for those blessings. It's like saying "Thanks God, but it would be really nice if...." and you know, complete the sentence.

It's interesting how God works though, because every time I feel in this rut, I am amazed how there are words of inspiration, whether they come form scripture, a blog , quote etc that help me focus. This week I came across the following post from MckMama and man it hit home, hit like a ton of breaks. Key word FOCUS...am i focusing on my blessings, on the positive or am I choosing to focus on those things/situations/etc. that only bring me down.

Praying for the wisdom and the fortitude to FOCUS on the wonderful, wonderful blessings that God has given me. To challenge my mind to FOCUS on the positive and eliminate the negative.

Seriously...no way

Tonight, we're at the ball park watching Mac's game and Charlie and I decide to take a trip to the snack bar. We're walking back to the field where Mac is playing and I look back and um....yeah...Charlie's pants have fallen to the ground yet...he's still walking.

What?!?!?!?
obviously not a picture of the incident, but a post isn't quite as fun without a picture.

Heat

Heat is not my friend, at least when I'm trying to run in it.

I ventured out on my first run since the 1/2 marathon and was quickly reminded that heat is not my friend. So I will admit, that it was more like a run/walk. At the same time it felt good.

I'm hoping the sun (can't really remember the last time I saw it) and the endorphins from my run help with my mood.

Who you gonna marry?

For some reason, we got on the topic of marriage while driving to get ice cream tonight.

Me: "Mac, who are you gonna marry?'
Mac: "I'm not gonna get married so I can drink milk from the carton and hang out on the couch in my boxers drinking beer."

Nice....very nice...

Me: Charlie, who are you gonna marry?
Charlie: uhhh.. the window (and his smirk little laugh)

Home Alone

That's Jay and I for the next 4 days. The boys will be spending time with their Nana and Grandpa in Arkansas.
Yesterday on the drive back home, we just took our time and did a little sight seeing. We decided to check out Ft. Smith Lake. It was an absolutely beautiful place. It's a huge lake, nestled in the Ozark Mountains. Everything was so green and lush and peaceful (even with all the visitors.) If this place is any example, Arkansas does a great job maintaining their state parks.

Here are a couple pics...

I really, really wish I had focused on Jay :(

Hospital Hill Recap

All I can say is WOW! Here it is 2 days after the race and I'm still on cloud nine! I CAN NOT BELIEVE I DID IT. It feels like a dream and I am so, so proud of myself.

The race was great, it truly was. I was very very nervous about the hills, but they weren't bad...as bad as what i was thinking. I think my training adequately prepared me for the course. The only issue I had were my feet...they were on fire...literally felt like they were burning. I grossly overestimated my approximate finish time and the boys did not make it up to see me cross the finish line. That's ok...I know they will make other races so we'll target next time.

Here is a pic of me and the boys at home but still in my race gear attire and with my medal...my very first medal.

AWESOME

This is it

So....this is it...Hospital Hill 1/2 marathon is finally here...

I feel pretty lame...I'm so excited and in the next split second find myself saying what the hell am I doing. I am ready...I have been thinking about this race for what seems like forever. I am ready to experience and see what comes next. :)

I do have goals, but at the same time I'm trying to keep it simple. This is my first 1/2 marathon, my third race and I have no idea what to expect. So ultimately, I want to finish, hopefully running down the final hill into the finish line in a respectable time, which I am thinking for me is 2 1/2 hours.

Here is my gear...

The only thing left to do is create a new mix. I've been listening to the same one primarily for the last 8 weeks. I need to mix it up a little.

We're taking the boys to Arkansas tomorrow afternoon, so I won't be posting until Sunday or Monday with my first race recap.

New favorite

I love this picture of Mac! My favorite parts:
I love his face....how it's determined and focused. Even when he's practicing, he's focused (for the most part)

I love how the sun is hitting him.
I love how he is not centered in the picture.

take me out to the ball game...

Yesterday, Charlie and Jay headed out to the K for Charlie's first Royals game of the season. Last night as Charlie was laying in bed we heard:

"take me out to the ball game...."

and evidence that Jay is a softie...
