night at the K

before beginning this post, it's important to note that i have boycotted the royals.  i'm unwilling to support an owner that continues to put a bad product on the market.  that being said my place of employment was giving away free tickets and knowing that my boys love baseball  and are impartial to the royals, i decided to bite the bullet and take the to the game.  i thought this would be a family adventure, but jay was out of town for work so wasn't able to join us.

that afternoon we had a downpour, so the first thing charlie asked when i picked him up is if the game was cancelled.   i wish i could have captured his face when i said no, the game was still on.

we opted to hit the mcdonald's drive through on our way to the ball park.  this is important to note because mac opted to try a big mac and loved it.  mac has always been picky picky picky so the fact that he would have a hamburger that had lettuce and thousand island dressing was pretty big.  picture to document the event.

the game was fun.  the boys were so good and the royals actually won.  sluggerr came to our row, i don't think i've ever  been that close to him and charlie didn't really like being that close.

i need a title here

weekend has been spent at a basketball tournament.  it ended up the boys were playing up, which meant they were playing boys that had been in 5th grade and going into 6th grade.  let me tell you it was like david v goliath.  yet, they played hard, aggressive...so proud of them.  (note...we played our last game this afternoon and those boys almost beat the other team...they played so hard, so good.  we were so proud of them all.)

nana came to visit and watch the basketball games

mac and i had a date night on thursday, when we ventured out to find new basketball shoes.  we had a lot of fun and only reiterated that i need to do that more.  spend one on one time with the boys.

this boy loves new shoes...

as we were driving home, this song on the radio that was from my high school/college days.  mac kept asking me to change the station.  i said this is a great song, his reply "maybe in your day it was the bomb, but not so much anymore." (note...after watching the video, i'm feeling very old)

we had lots of rain this weekend and luckily i had a new book.  started and finshed this one.  it was good, not great but good.

feeling sad that another weekend is yet again winding down.  already looking forward to next weekend. :)

tidbits

1. loving this song right now...it has made me think so much of my boys and my hope that one day, when they are men with their own families, home will be a place they will think of and smile, a place filled with great memories, a place that shaped the men they became.   a place that they hope they build/replicate for their own families.

2. first week of summer is over. i am loving the relaxed schedule. we just got our summer list made this morning and i wouldn't say it's quite complete, but close. i'll post it soon.

4. downloaded my memory card. here are some pics of mac during a game. i'm loving these pics.

3. my 5 year old says holler and put this outfit together.

quotables

setting: charlie woke up with a high fever today and sore throat (later in the day the Dr confirmed he has strep.) i thought i had turned the tv to cartoon network but turned out to be FS Midwest. He says to me:

"you really expect me to watch that show. it's definetly not cartoons."

random

warning:  this will be a very random post

1.  spent the weekend in good ol indy.  the boys cried were very distraught when we left.  lucky for them they get to go back tomorrow night.

2.  joe and mary got our their slip n slide sunday night.  charlie wanted to do the slip and slide so bad but would chicken out everytime he got close to the slide.

4.  i blew a hole in my tire on sunday and had to buy a new tire in indy.  that was a bummer!!

5.  we bought eggs from 2 amish boys in thayer on our way to indy.  they were so cheap i felt like i was stealing.  i'm totally mesmerized with their way of life.  so simple, so pure

6. the ride home was a rough one.  we had an episode in the car where i told charlie he would be punished.  i looked at jay and asked what should his punishment be.  charlie said, 'i know, just go ahead and take away my DS.'  we were all laughing so hard.

7.  mac's baseball team won their league championship.  too bad they didn't get a trophy or t-shirt or anything like that.

8.  mac's last day of school was friday.  he graduated to 5th grade.  so very proud of him.

no good horrible terrible day

do you have days in which you wish you could just have a do over?  it doesn't happen often but every once in awhile it does and yesterday was definetly one of them.

i don't know what was up with my children but oh my...did i give you something to eat/drink that messed with your mind?

i have gone to the same church for 8 years and I was very confident that mass was at 10:30...um no...mass is at 10

i just woke up in a funk and it just never seemed to go away.  all day was a struggle and it was just no fun.

here is to positive thinking and praying that the no good horrible day does not come back for awhile.

on a different note, tried this recipe last week...can you say oh my...words do not describe this masterpiece.  if you love peanut butter, this one is to try.
