musings of a tired mommy

the weekend is coming to an end.  as always it went way too fast and much time was spent catching up and getting ready.  i swear i did more laundry than i have ever done in my entire life.  :)  it was a perfect spring weekend, where the boys played and played baseball and played some more.  much yard work was accomplished and jay got our garden plot tilled.  now we patiently wait to plant and pray that something grows and that the rabbits don't eat it first. 

my mind is a mess and my words are jumbled.  we had the opportunity to visit with our neighbors.  they are super sweet and i'm thankful that they are our neighbors.  as we were talking mr. miller said, don't ever give up on your dreams and since then, i've been thinking what is my dream?  my dream is to take care of my family the best way i can and right now i just don't feel like i am.  my dream is to find my passion. 5 out of 7 days a week is a mental struggle for me.  i'm a working mommy.  do i want to be ....no.  but the choices i've/we've made require that i work.  do i like what i do...no, but i love the flexibility it gives me.  i'm very fortunate and that keeps me where i'm at.  i have hopes that one day it will be different and a rough plan on how to get there...where my family won't be dependent on my income as much as we are today, which will allow me to pursue a job that i have passion for...whatever it may be.  loving this song right now....my favorite verse...

enough of my rambling.  onto the boys.  baseball has started and i'm loving it.  i am one proud mama when i watch mac get on the pitchers mound.  i swear his eyes light up.  i'm so proud of how he carries himself, how he interacts with his teammates.  Love it.  kind of funny, since baseball is my least favorite sport.

charlie is loving baseball, is obsessed with all the equipment and has already identified three different teams as his favorite since opening day.

St. Louis 1/2 marathon

it is truly race day that reminds me why i run.  the weekend was fantastic.  this was the first race that i actually travelled to.  the hotel and streets were full of racers and their families.  it was empowering to be surrounded by people as crazy as i am.

my official time was 2:05:50 and while i was hoping to break just under2 i'm still so proud of myself for finishing.  the weather was perfect but at about the 10 mile marker it was getting hot and some folks started getting in trouble and having issues that required medical attention, which started to mess with my head.  this might have been my favorite race thus far.

i got two things at the expo which i would highly recommend: this and this. 

it was awesome that my family finally got to see me and it was so uplifting for me when i saw them.

the weather is finally turning and you can smell spring/summer just around the corner and you just know it will be here soon.

the month has been busy.  this is an attempt to catch up

i took a whirlwind trip to colorado to visit my uncle pat who is not doing well healthwise.   my dad went with me...we left saturday morning and got back monday afternoon.  it was a difficult trip but honestly it was nice to have a change of scenery.  it was so good to visit family and catch up or at least kind of catch up

the month has been filled with basketaball, basketball, basketball and more basketball

i've been doing very poorly on my lent goals.  i was doing really really good till about 2 weeks ago. not sure what happened

mac was selected as one of  3 fourth graders to attend the partners in education banquet.  very proud

date night...like we got a real babysitter.  these are our date nights:   dinner, retail therapy/window shopping and visit to borders for coffee and uninterrupted browsing.  heaven

took my first knitting class.  learned the basic stitches.  i'm not sure that i will make anything but the process is very therapeutic/meditative

we planted some seeds and we are having so much fun watching them grow.  the first pallet are flowers (geraniums, impatients and coleus)  i bought some more seeds today that includes more flowers as well as vegetables.  so excited to see them grow.

ran 10k this morning.  to be honest it was miserable.  great course weather sucked.  running in rain is interesting.  there was a puddle in my shoes.

ok, totally random but love this stuff...i would highly recommend this stuff.  i don't know if it makes my hair look exceptional, but it sure smells good.

to be honest, out of all the problems in the world it seems so insignificant to complain about the weather,  but it is what it is and this winter has been brutal.  today as i looked out the window, i just smiled.    if the grass had been green and the trees full of leaves you would have thought we were in the middle of spring.   soooo looking forward to the rays of sun and warm weather.
